Poughkeepsie, A Fall Photo-Walk

Join us on our second of four Fall Colors Upstate Photo-walks Let’s escape the city for Halloween and take a long walk in upstate New York *Saturday, October 31st. Meet at the Clock/Info Booth in Grand Central Station This will be an early start due to the length of the train ride. 8:15 am for 8:56 train departure on Metro North Hudson River Line to Poughkeepsie Train Ticket Prices One way Trip Off-Peak $21 One way Trip Senior/Disabled/Medicare $14* After a pleasant train ride (two hours and ten minutes) along the banks of the Hudson River, we will arrive at Poughkeepsie at approximately 10:56 am. Folks driving to this meetup should meet us here at the train station at that time. After a short bathroom break at the train station, we will walk a short distance to arrive at the entrance to the "Walkway Across The Hudson" and cross the beautiful Hudson River high above the water on this exciting old railroad trestle bridge which is now a very popular park. As we cross we can admire the beauty of the fall colors on the hills around on both sides of the river and the grand scenic views over the town, the river and the surrounding areas. Once on the far side, we'll head down to a rustic riverside road and follow it along the shore of the Hudson to the "Franklin D. Roosevelt Mid-Hudson Bridge." Once there, we'll slip down underneath the bridge to find the entrance to a secret woodland trail. We have arrived at the Franny Reese State Park and will follow the trail a short ways past the ruins of an old house and a viewpoint high above the bridge and the Hudson River. Finally, we wind back down through the woods to the road bridge and cross back over to the town. On arriving back in town and after a rest stop for snacks and beverages, it's time to head back to the station for the return trip to New York City.
