Post-Election Connection

On the first Tuesday of November, we will elect new representatives and senators, commissioners and mayors, and vote on a myriad of local measures that will impact our lives and the lives of our neighbors. There will be winners and losers. As has become customary in our politics, many winners will gloat while many losers will feel despair. The stakes can feel extraordinarily high in the zero-sum game we’ve created. And yet, we know that isn’t the best way for us, or our country, to move forward. Politics should not be a zero-sum game. Those who win should use their power for the good of all, and those who lose should continue doing what they can to help our nation move forward in pursuit of a “more perfect union.” An election determines who holds office. It does not change the fact that we remain neighbors, fellow citizens, and Americans. With that in mind, we’d like to remind you that our focus this fall has been The Great Reconnection and, in that spirit, we invite you to join us for a special post-election gathering on November 7. Our time will focus on coming back together as Americans and, much more importantly, as friends. Whatever happens at the ballot box, the work of building relationships, strengthening our communities, and moving America toward something better than we have today continues. This event has no agenda beyond connection at a moment when people may be celebrating, disappointed, frustrated, or simply exhausted by our politics. We hope you’ll come open, come curious, and come ready to connect.
