About this event

Englewood - MacKay Room, Englewood Public Library. The Englewood Public Library is honored to welcome the trailblazing advocate and politician, Loretta Weinberg, as we screen the documentary "Politics is a Mother: Raising Hell Is Part of the Job” with Director Francine Weinberg Graff. The film will be shown on Monday, October 5 at 7 p.m. in the Mackay Room. Assistant Majority Leader of the NJ Senate Gordon Johnson will join Weinberg for a discussion about local politics after the screening. Due to the popularity of the film and its subject, you MUST register (no walk-ins). At almost 80 years old, when most women feel invisible, NJ Senator Loretta Weinberg was at her most powerful. From Town Council to Senate Majority leader (battling bullies along the way), she faced off against then-Governor Chris Christie and flipped New Jersey on its head when she helped unearth the Bridgegate scandal. Told through the lens of a mother/daughter story, Politics Is a Mother, Raising Hell Is Part of the Job, reveals how the political is always personal and how an "adorable" grandmother could be one of the most important politicians of our time, spending her life advancing progressive issues like women's health, marriage equality, transparency, pay equity and gun safety. The Englewood Public Library is located at 31 Engle Street, Englewood, NJ.
