Polish Center of Discovery and Learning, Workshop

Polish Straw Art Lecture and Workshop Polish straw art is a traditional folk craft associated with rural communities and regional traditions such as straw marquetry (obrazki slomkowe) that uses dried straw, often combined with colored paper, to create decorative panels, mobiles, symbolic images, and wooden panels. Straw art is part of Poland’s intangible cultural heritage and dates back to the 19th and 20th centuries. Susan Urban will lead an hour lecture followed by a two-hour workshop. You’ll be able to tour the Polish Center’s straw art exhibits while there. Ticket price is $25 and workshop materials. Tickets can be purchased at www.polishcenter.net and are limited so get them while they’re still available!
