Poetry Workshop with Joyce Benvenuto

Join us for an evening of poetry with Joyce Benvenuto! Joyce Benvenuto has published four books of poetry, and performed at various poetry readings over time, both in person and on Zoom. As a teacher for Haslett Public Schools, she taught Creative Writing for 18 years. Recently, she was co-editor of a poetry anthology, Wild Roses, for the Texas Poetry Society. Currently, she is a reader for Burlington Writers Workshop’s newest anthology, Cold Lake Anthology, in Vermont. She is a member of MSU Community Club Writers, and also performs with the Lansing Poetry Society. She has a Master’s Degree in teaching from Michigan State University. Joyce’s books can be found on the shelf of this library, and at local bookstores. It was her pleasure to present a Poetry Writing Workshop last spring at the East Lansing Library. She looks forward to this autumn’s session. The format will be the same—direct teaching of sound and rhythm, example writing prompts, a time for writing, and last, a time to share. Joyce travels the country but still calls Michigan her home. The soil, water, and trees are in her blood. Her family and friends are here too, and that makes Michigan her spot on earth. Her three children were raised here, and that means her memories go back over 60 years.
