Pie Crust Basics (Single Crust) Workshop

Learn the secrets to the process for making a pie crust that will melt in your mouth! Pastry instructor Gina Guth shares the tricks and easy method for creating a flaky pie crust. In this hands on class, you will learn how to mix using either butter, shortening or lard, how to roll with ease and transfer to a pie pan. Gina will demonstrate how to flute the pie with special tools or by hand the old-fashioned way. Also included will be demonstrations on the following: Blind baking pie crust for refrigerator pies such as coconut, chocolate or banana cream pies. Baking mini tarts in a muffin pan Class will end with each person enjoying a slice of either pumpkin or pecan pie that Gina baked ahead.
