Join historian Dr. Patrick Browne for Patriots, Loyalists, and Revolutionary Plymouth, the third lecture in Plimoth Patuxet’s Revolutionary Plymouth series. During the American Revolution, Plymouth’s Patriots and Loyalists fought not only over politics, but over the meaning of the town’s past. This lecture explores how both sides sought to claim the Pilgrim legacy for themselves, using Forefathers’ Day, Plymouth Rock, and the memory of the Mayflower generation to shape competing visions of liberty, loyalty, and American identity.
