One Hit Wonders Camp

Camp Description Nirvana was formed in Aberdeen Washington in 1987 by friends Kurt Cobain (vocals and guitar) and Krist Novoselic (bass). After a succession of drummers including the Melvins’ Dale Crover, Chad Channing joined and they released their first 7” single “Love Buzz” on the fledgling label Sub Pop in 1988. Combining elements of Punk, Metal, and Pop, Nirvana channeled teen angst into Rock’s last sweeping mainstream movement. In 1989 the band recorded their first full-length record “Bleach”, which was a hit on college radio. Beginner and intermediate guitar players will learn power chords and melodic lead guitar in this camp, while any drum student will be challenged by David Grohl’s powerful, technical drumming. WEEKLY SCHEDULE Camp runs Monday - Friday, 9am - 3pm each day Each day consists of rehearsals, practice time and fun music-based games and activities On Friday, campers will play and perform the songs they’ve been working on throughout the week! WHAT TO EXPECT Students can expect an exciting and educational week of learning music taught by our talented camp instructors. Each day, students will be asked to bring lunch, snacks, water, and hearing protection. At School of Rock, we are committed to creating a safe and welcoming environment for all campers. To help us maintain this space, we ask parents to avoid packing any nut products in lunches or snacks. We also prohibit any toy or real weapons from being brought to camp.
