Room 1. Join a lively discussion of Intemperance by local author Sonora Jha—the One Bellevue One Book selection for 2026. For those planning to attend this event, copies of the book are available to pick up at the 1st Floor Desk at Bellevue Library, courtesy of the Bellevue Friends of the Library. Intemperance follows a twice-divorced feminist scholar who decides to celebrate her 55th birthday with a swayamvar, an ancient Indian custom in which suitors compete for her hand in marriage. The book explores themes of gender, aging, Indian diaspora, disability, and mythology.
