About this event
Oh Give Us A Song: A Tribute Concert to Celebrate the Music of Peter Amidon will be held at the Latchis Theatre on Monday, Nov. 2, at 7:00pm. The evening will include performances by The Amidon-Bode Family, the Guilford Community Church & Hallowell Chorus, West Willow, Adam Podd, Keith Murphy, Becky Tracy and many more. The evening honors the life and profound musical legacy of Peter Amidon (1949-2025), internationally known choral arranger, folk singer, community dancing leader, storyteller, and music educator – who was a beloved friend and mentor to so many in the Brattleboro area and beyond, and a cherished husband, father and grandfather. The evening will highlight his work as a choral arranger and his legacy, alongside his wife Mary Alice Amidon, of participatory singing. Peter led “Choirs of the Community” for many events, was one of the musical leaders of the Guilford Community Church, co-founded the Brattleboro Christmas Street Band, co-led the hospice singing group Hallowell, and most recently gathered the ensemble West Willow to sing his many choral arrangements and compositions. His choral arrangements are being sung by hundreds of choirs throughout the U.S., the UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. Through concerts, workshops and artist-in-residence programs in schools, Peter and Mary Alice introduced thousands of teachers and children throughout the United States and beyond to traditional dance and song in the classroom. Tickets are available by suggested donation of $20, and proceeds will benefit Latchis Arts. For tickets, please visit https://app.arts-people.com/?show=366317
