About this event

Odyssey Opera brings together three landmark works by the Boston School composers: George W. Chadwick’s The Padrone, a sharply drawn portrait of immigrant life in turn‑of‑the‑century Boston; Amy Beach’s Jephthah’s Daughter, a concentrated and moving retelling of the biblical story; and Edward MacDowell’s Laima, a dramatic scene shaped by Lithuanian myth. Heard together, these works illuminate the range and ambition of the composers who defined Boston’s early musical identity and helped establish a distinctly American operatic voice.
