NYC DSA Film Club: Cuba!

NYC DSA Film Club: Cuba!

Cuba is currently under a devastating economic embargo intensified by the Trump administration. The United States has been starving Cuba economically since the 1960s and the current ratcheting up of sanctions has plunged the country into deeper crisis. Join us for a night of short films and a talkback from NYC-DSA members who joined the recent Nuestra America convoy to Cuba. We'll show two shorts from post-revolutionary Cuba on feminism and city culture by director Sara Gómez and contemporary shorts from the independent Cuban news organization Belly of the Beast. We'll have a discussion to follow and all proceeds will benefit La Red Afro-Cubana de Personas Trans, an LGBTQ Solidarity group in Cuba. This screening is part of a series of anti-imperialist films and fundraisers in April and May with the NYC-DSA Anti-War Working Group. Stay tuned for more! #block-59de14674b1fad5b5946 { --tweak-text-block-radius: 0px 0px 0px 0px; --tweak-text-block-radius: unset; --stroke-style: none;--stroke-thickness: 6px; border-width: unset; border-style: unset; border-color: unset; background-color: unset;}#block-59de14674b1fad5b5946 .sqs-html-content { --tweak-text-block-padding: 6% 6% 6% 6%; padding: unset;}#block-59de14674b1fad5b5946 { mix-blend-mode: var(--tweak-text-block-blend ); } #block-59de14674b1fad5b5946 { }
