NPL – Justice Bus (mobile legal resource center)

Residents seeking guidance on civil legal matters will have free access to comprehensive resources with the Justice Bus returns to the Natchitoches Parish Library (NPL) on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The mobile legal resource center will continue visiting NPL on the third Tuesday of every month through December 2026, bringing essential legal information directly to the community. The Justice Bus, a joint project of the Louisiana Bar Foundation and the Lagniappe Law Lab, provides self-help tools and information on a wide range of civil legal topics through guided access to Louisiana Legal Navigator, including housing rights, family law, divorce, child custody, wills and estate planning, education, disaster relief, employment, and public benefits. Trained staff will help residents navigate the online platform, access printed resources, and connect with appropriate referrals. Sessions operate on a first-come, first-served basis with no appointment necessary, and assistance typically lasts 15-20 minutes per person. “We are excited to be there and hope to reach more folks in the area!” said Bria Williams, Justice Bus Program Manager at Lagniappe Law Lab. The mobile resource center brings legal information directly to communities, eliminating barriers to accessing justice. While the van itself is not wheelchair accessible, staff can meet with individuals inside NPL to ensure all community members can benefit from these resources. Services are provided in English with some translated materials available online, and families are welcome to bring children. The Justice Bus will be located at Natchitoches Parish Library, 450 2nd St., Natchitoches, LA 71457. All services are free and open to everyone.
