Not Your Average Art Show

Forget everything you think you know about art shows. No hushed galleries, no stuffy wine-and-cheese whispers, no “please don’t touch” side-eye. This is Not Your Average Art Show, and it’s going to be LOUD, colorful and one of the best nights of the year at Confluence. We’re bringing together some of the most talented visual artists from around the region under one roof: painters, makers, and creative wild cards whose work you won’t find hanging in a doctor’s office. Meet the artists, hear the stories behind their work and take home something original that nobody else on your street has. And because great art deserves a great soundtrack, Abe Reid and the Spike Drivers are taking the stage for a live set that’ll have you tapping your boots between canvases. Abe is a North Carolina musician and one of the modern keepers of the Piedmont roots music tradition. Born in Forsyth County and raised in Statesville, Reid began playing guitar at a young age, developing a deep connection to the region's historic finger-style traditions. He gained further success forming Abe Reid & the SpikeDrivers, well known as unofficial guardians of the traditional art of "blood and guts" musical performance, with a blend of Piedmont blues and raw rock 'n roll. Abe’s authentic finger picking and soloing technique has impressed countless guitar enthusiasts and watching him always makes getting the blues enjoyable. Grab a drink, wander the work, catch the music and soak up a night that celebrates the creative spirit of this place we all love. Whether you’re a serious collector, a first-time art buyer or just here for good tunes and good people, there’s room for you. This is the kind of night people talk about for months. Don’t be the one hearing about it secondhand. Join us for another amazing night of music and art.
