Community Garden. Metro Young Latino Professional Association (MYLPA) and the Omaha Public Library invite the community to a free outdoor screening of In the Heights (2021, PG-13) in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. Directed by Jon M. Chu and based on Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Tony Award-winning musical, In the Heights follows a vibrant Washington Heights neighborhood over the course of a sweltering summer weekend. The film weaves together music, dance, and the stories of a community holding onto its roots while reaching for something more. Content is rated PG-13; parental guidance is suggested for younger audiences. Refreshments and light snacks will be provided. Bring your own blankets and lawn chairs. Program will be moved indoors in case of inclement weather. This event is free and open to the public. Registration is encouraged and opens Sept. 1. All Omaha Public Library locations are wheelchair accessible. Need sign language interpretation or other accessibility assistance for this event?
