In this focused painting workshop, artists explore how abstraction emerges from observation, memory, and the natural landscape of the North Shore. Through guided exercises, color studies, independent studio time, and supportive group dialogue, participants investigate gesture, light, and atmosphere while strengthening their personal visual language. Designed for intermediate to advanced painters who wish to deepen their practice in an immersive studio setting. Open to artists working in all media. Prerequisite: Established body of work and foundational understanding of chosen medium. Students Are Asked To Bring the Following Materials Paint media: Acrylic, water miscible oil or traditional oil paint 2 reds (warm/cool) 2 yellows (warm/cool) 2 blues (dark/light, example: French ultramarine, cobalt, cerulean) White, large tube Paynes gray or black Buff titanium or Naples yellow Additional secondary colors of your choice Paint mediums to increase flow for acrylic painters Linseed oil for oil painters Canvas: Stretched and primed cotton or linen canvas in a variety of sizes. Larger sizes encouraged but not required (18 x 24;โ 24 x 24โ) Canvas panels optional Paper: Spiral bound pad of mixed-media or Bristol paper (heavy enough to hold paint) for visual journal and warm-up exercises Tools: Brushes in assorted sizes and styles (round, flat, filbert, small, med, large) Palette knife
