My Adult & Me: Suminagashi Paper Marbling w/ Richard Longstreet (Dec 12) from $55.00 Learn the art of Suminagashi or Japanese paper marbling with Surge: A Geography of Flow artist, Richard Longstreet! Perfect for artists of all ages, learn how to swirl ink to make your own unique designs on paper. Make memories and get creative in this fun intergenerational workshop! About Suminigashi: Suminagashi, “floating ink”, is the Japanese term for a practice developed in China about 2000 years ago. In suminagashi, alternating rings of ink and a surfactant (such as ox gall, pine needle resin or dish soap) are floated on water. The image is then manipulated, usually by blowing on it, and transferred to paper. Date: Saturday, December 12 from 1-2:30pm Ages: 6 & up (An adult collaborator (parent/caregiver) must be present for those under 16.) Cost: $55 per adult & child pair // $75 for 1 adult & 2 children (Members get 10% off at check out.) Location: In-person class in MoNA’s Art Studio. All supplies provided! Come dressed for mess! After 1984, I taught in the Anacortes School District as Artist in Residence, board member of Anacortes Youth Arts and as a Classroom Teacher. I then taught in the Seattle School District as an Art Education specialist before retiring in 2026 to concentrate on my own art which can be viewed on my website, richardlongstreetart.com.
