Music – Deb and Gary

Gary Maragos grew up in Maryland, and while he hasn’t lived in Olney since he was a kid, he remains loyal to the burgundy and gold. His love for music started with The Beatles and The Kinks, and he counts Squeeze, Elvis Costello, Jellyfish, and Matthew Sweet among influences on his original music recorded by his band Rocket Transfer Warehouse. Deb Sward grew up on classic rock and grunge music. One of her earliest inspirations to pick up guitar was Nancy Wilson of Heart. Deb and Gary met at work and first performed music together in 2011 at an office holiday party. Soon after, they began playing at a variety of venues –including wineries, cafes, private parties, clubs, and bars — and eventually struck upon the name “Deb and Gary” for their new alliance. The duo is known for textured vocal harmonies and complementary guitar playing styles, and audiences have appreciated their unique set lists and musical arrangements. Deb and Gary’s favorite songs to play are ones such as Pink Floyd’s “Brain Damage/Eclipse” that might surprise the audience with something not usually played by an acoustic duo.
