Participants will explore the mural-making process from concept to completion while working together to create a group mural as a class. Drawing on more than a decade of experience creating public art, Detour will share practical techniques and insights for developing and scaling designs, translating concepts to large-scale surfaces, selecting the right materials, preparing and installing designs, and maintaining murals for long-term durability. The workshop offers participants an opportunity to build their technical skills, gain a deeper understanding of the mural process, and learn what it takes to work professionally in the mural space. Participants should have some prior painting or art experience and come with a willingness to experiment, collaborate, and take their mural skills to the next level.
