"Much Ado About Nothing" at George Memorial Library

"She speaks poniards, and every word stabs." ABOUT THE EVENT: Fort Bend County Libraries and The Live Oak Playhouse will present the Shakespeare-by-the-Book production of "Much Ado About Nothing," one of the Bard's most enduring romantic comedies. "*Love, lies, and a legendary war of wits take center stage in William Shakespeare’s classic comedy, Much Ado About Nothing.* Set against the vibrant backdrop of a sun-drenched Renaissance Sicily, the story follows the sharp-tongued Beatrice and cynical Benedick as they are tricked into falling in love by their matchmaking friends. But as courtly romance blooms, a dark plot by a vengeful villain threatens to shatter the honor and wedding of another young couple. Filled with sparkling Elizabethan banter, mistaken identities, and a bumbling local watch crew, this timeless tale asks whether love can conquer deception — or if it is all just 'much ado' about nothing?" "An adaptation of Erica Smith, this live, free, and open-to-the-public performance is directed by Stacy A. Bakri and stage managed by Amy Pope." Read more about the play on Wikipedia.
