About this event

Inspired by photographs in Queer Constellations: Photographs from the Aronowitz Family Collection, CMA’s William and Sarah Ross Soter Associate Curator of Photography, Kaitlin Booher, will explore how photography and writing shape the way we remember dance performance. Through the work of George Platt Lynes, Peter Hujar, and the writings of Edwin Denby, this lecture considers the artistic communities and collaborations that promoted and memorialized ballet in New York at midcentury. After her talk, enjoy a live performance by Columbus Symphony Orchestra musicians. This program is $5 for members, $15 for nonmembers. Register Photo: George Platt Lynes, Alexander Jensen Yow, 1950. Gelatin silver print, 9 1/2 x 7 5/8 in. Columbus Museum of Art, Gift of David and Carol Aronowitz, 2025.035.015. © Estate of George Platt Lynes. Photo by Luke Stettner.
