Characters are stabbed, mixed, decapitated and explode. A conversation about suicide and Santa is revealed to not be real. Many people recommend this classic for children aged 11 and up. About Gremlins and the Invention of PG-13 Rating Gremlins was theatrically released on June 8, 1984, by Warner Bros. to critical and commercial success. However, it was heavily criticized for some of its more violent sequences.
