About this event
Travel back in time to learn about the movie palace – a building type that holds many great memories for people coming of age in the early-mid 20th century. Chicago played a key role in this story as the hometown of Balaban & Katz, often thought of as the fathers of these fantasy venues that provided an escape from many people’s everyday lives. Robin Simon, enjoys sharing her love of Chicago history and architecture, as well as theater and old Hollywood, with audiences of all ages. She leads more than 10 different walking tours for the Chicago Architecture Center, including one of the Uptown neighborhood. This program is in association with the current exhibit Palaces for the People: The Balaban and Katz Theater Empire.
