Motivated: Siphon Draw and the Flatiron - Superstitions

Motivated Hike: Siphon Draw and the Flatiron - Superstitions Trail Head: Siphon Draw Trailhead, Lost Dutchman State Park Hike Distance: \~6 miles AEG: 2600 ft Driving Distance: 74 miles RT, \~1.7 hr drive Driver Fee: $6.00 plus share of the car park fee (\~$20?). Trail Head facilities: Vault toilets at trailhead Hike Leader: Ed Molieri, (602) 980-2723 Steady climb to Siphon Draw (\~2 mile) and steep scrambling over large boulders to Flatiron (\~1 mile); the last mile is difficult but views are worth the effort The climb in the morning is in the shade, and is usually windy, dress in layers for cold and wind. We usually have a snack/lunch at the top, then explore the Flatiron plateau and visit a plane crash memorial before heading back. Driving Directions: Take your favorite route to access US-202 E loop. Follow to and exit onto US-60 E. Continue on US 60 till exit-196 Idaho Rd, turn left onto Idaho Rd, turn right on AZ-88 Apache trail, turn right onto Lost Dutchman State Park, at entry gate obtain park map and/or ask for directions to trailhead (roads are not named) If using Goggle maps: enter/select "Siphon Draw Trailhead" MEETUP: 7:45 AM at Cottonwood Flagpole parking lot Hike Leaders cellphone: 602 980-2723
