MOTIVATED: Hau Pal - Alta Loop at South Mountain

Hike Category: Motivated Hike Title: Hau Pal - Alta Loop, South Mountain Hike Distance: 7 miles AEG: 1400' Trailhead: 19th Ave TH, 10500 S 19th Ave, Phoenix; South Mountain Park TH Elevation: 1360' Description: From the 19th Ave. trailhead in South Mountain Park, we ascend the Hau Pal Loop trail. This is a steep, rocky trail, slightly over a mile, that takes us up to the ridgeline of the Ma-Ha-Tuak range. We will have completed more than half of our total AEG with this ascent. At the ridgeline, we continue on to connect to the Alta trail. At this junction, we descend Alta and hike on several trails - Bajada, Ranger, Las Lomitas - to the Crosscut trail and up the second ridgeline of the Hau Pal loop. We will finish with a final descent to the trailhead on this second part of the Hau Pal Loop trail.
