About this event

Meeting Room. This workshop is for adults and requires registration. Registration opens August 7th. In this class, students will learn how to create their own monotypes and explore variations in this form of printmaking. When a monotype print is designed, it makes a single unique impression similar to a painting. However, it is highly approachable for those with no experience in painting or drawing. It can be as simple as a few colorful shapes, or full of intricate details. It can be presented as an art piece, turned into a greeting card, or form part of a collage. This art form is suited to all backgrounds and skill levels, and the community setting will add to your creativity and fun. The process begins by spreading paint or ink on a smooth acrylic surface and adding a design to the thin layer of paint. This is then transferred to paper through pressure, using simple tools. Carefully separate the acrylic and the paper to see how your monotype turned out! About the instructor: Paola De la Torre is a visual arts graduate from the University of Puerto Rico. "I advocate that every single one of us could be an artist," she shares. "We just have to find our art form and experiment until we find something that fulfills us and lets us experiment with our creativity." ¡Yo hablo español!
