A figure whose opinions and physical presence were famously larger than life, Feldman created music of extraordinary quietude and sublime beauty, shaped in dialogue with an extraordinary circle of artists, writers, and musicians that included Philip Guston, Mark Rothko, Jackson Pollock, Willem de Kooning, Frank O’Hara, Samuel Beckett, and John Cage.
