About this event
The 2nd stop on the American Road Trip brings together bold new voices, iconic American music, and one of the most recognizable symphonies ever written about the New World. The journey begins with the winner of the MSO Young Composer Competition, giving you the chance to hear a brand-new work from the next generation of musical voices. Then, experience the vibrant energy of Efraín Amaya’s Caracoles, featuring our very own Dr. Dianna Anderson on piano. Her artistry brings an exciting local connection to this contemporary work and its fresh perspective on America’s ever-evolving musical landscape. Hear the powerful words of Abraham Lincoln brought to life through Aaron Copland’s Lincoln Portrait, a stirring tribute to the ideals and identity that continue to shape our country. Then comes the grand finale: Dvořák’s beloved Symphony No. 9, “From the New World.” You’ve probably heard its famous melodies – but hearing this iconic masterpiece live is an entirely different experience. A new voice. A familiar face. A timeless masterpiece. One unforgettable night. Join us for Voices of the New World and discover how America has sounded—and continues to sound—across generations.
