Our American Road Trip has taken us across wide-open landscapes and through unforgettable stories. Now, it’s time to follow the road until it meets the sea. Let the music carry you somewhere extraordinary! Tales of the Sea will take you on a dramatic journey filled with mystery, adventure, romance, and the untamed power of the ocean. The journey begins with our music director Efraín Amaya’s “Soledad y el Mar”, a mesmerizing musical story about a woman who believes she is the guardian of the sea. Hear the ocean call to Soledad, feel the force of its waves, and experience the moment when she discovers the inner strength to calm the storm. It’s a story told without words – but you’ll feel every moment. We’ll also celebrate the next generation of musical talent with a performance by the MSU Honors Competition Competition winner. Then, set sail with Rimsky-Korsakov’s spectacular Scheherazade. From Sinbad’s ship and exotic adventures to romance, danger, a grand festival, and a shipwreck at sea, this beloved orchestral masterpiece is a feast for the imagination. You may think you know the music – but hearing it live brings the story to life in a whole new way. Adventure awaits. The waves are calling.
