Midwest Lit Fest: Raúl the Third Drawing Workshop

Meeting Room. Kids, parents, teachers, and fans! Come meet Raul the Third, author of the "¡Vamos!" books and illustrator of the "Stuntboy" and "Lowriders" graphic novels. Raúl The Third is a New York Times bestselling and three-time Pura Belpré award-winning illustrator, author, and artist living in Boston. "Vamos! Let’s Cross the Bridge" was awarded one of the year’s Best Illustrated Children’s Books of 2021 from the New York Times and the New York Public Library. His work centers around the contemporary Mexican-American experience and his memories of growing up in El Paso, Texas and Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. Raúl will lead a drawing workshop for kids in grades K-8. Registration is required. Caregivers must remain with their child(ren) for the duration of the program and must also register. Midwest Lit Fest celebrates reading, storytelling, and creativity, designed to inspire young minds to explore their own voices through art and writing. Children in grades K-8 along with their teachers and caregivers are invited to individual interactive sessions with Jerry Craft, Vashti Harrison, Claribel Ortega and several local authors and illustrators as well as the Meet & Greet on Oct. 2 where all will be present.
