About this event

Dir. John Schlesinger. 1969, 113 mins. U.S. 4K DCP. With Dustin Hoffman, Jon Voight, Sylvia Miles, Brenda Vaccaro. John Voight’s wannabe gigolo Joe Buck leaves Texas and winds up hustling on 42nd Street, bonding with the blighted block’s genius loci, Dustin Hoffman’s tubercular petty thief Ratzo Rizzo. Adapting a book by James Leo Herlihy, screenwriter Waldo Salt and British director John Schlesinger (in his first American film) fashioned something so brutally honest and daring that it became an instant sensation. Probably the most desperately romantic New York movie of its era, John Schlesinger’s astonishing, downtrodden Midnight Cowboy won three Oscars including Best Picture despite being the first major studio production released with an X. Tickets: $17.50 / $12 senior and students / $10 youth / $7 MoMI members. There is a $1.50 transaction fee per ticket for all online purchases. The cost of admission may be applied toward a same-day purchase of a membership. Order tickets. Please pick up tickets at the Museum’s admissions desk upon arrival. All seating is general admission.
