About this event
The Seed of the Sacred Fig is a dramatic political thriller set in the midst of the Woman! Life! Freedom! uprising after the death of Mahsa Gina Amini. The film premiered at the 77th Cannes Film Festival in May 2024, where it won the Special Jury Prize. It has received critical acclaim, including recognition as Best International Film of 2024 by the National Board of Review, and was nominated for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film. The Middle East Studies program will show the film Tuesday, October 6, at 6pm in the Olin Room in the library (LIB 002). Snack and coffee/tea will be served!
