Michael Martone will read from his new memoir, Table Talk and Second Thoughts: A Memoir in Flashes. Described as a witty, humorous book in which Martone “writes his life as one of brief bites, effervescent episodes, and meaningful meals illuminated by the luminaries on the other side of the table,” Table Talk and Second Thoughts is praised by Brandon M. Stickney of North American Review as “delightful glimpses of authors behind the scenes [that] are here to satisfy those who read barbarically and deep.” Michael Martone is the author of several books, including a new poetry book coming out in March, Moon Dot Doc, as well as The Complete Writings of Art Smith, The Bird Boy of Fort Wayne, and Plain Air: Sketches from Winesburg, Indiana. He also published two anthologies with the University of Iowa Press, A Place of Sense and Townships, which both contain essays about the Midwest and feature Louis Erdrich, Mary Swander, David Hamilton, David Foster Wallace, and others.
