Memories of Our Revolutionary Ancestors

About this event

Although several of Cumberland County’s citizens played significant roles in the American Revolution, both politically and militarily, many other patriots performed their duties, returned home and continued otherwise normal lives. While many lie in unmarked graves, others have been honored and memorialized with large monuments. While those patriots who died within 50 years of the war’s end were lucky to receive a brief death notice in local newspapers, the last of the war’s veterans often received grand tributes to their valor. This power-point provides vignettes of some of those in both Cumberland and Perry counties who contributed to our democracy’s beginnings.
