About this event

We will cover joke writing and structure, stage presence, emotional storytelling, and developing your own unique comedic style. We will also practice public speaking and handling a mic. By the end of the series, you will have the new skills and improved confidence to perform jokes written in this course on the Melrose Center Stage. Joke content and material will be family-friendly. No prior experience required. Each class will build on the previous content discussed, so it is recommended that learners commit to as many of the five sessions offered as possible for best results. The content is presented by Aimee LeCours, a nationally touring stand-up comedian whose comedy is smart, self-aware and delightfully unhinged in the way only a licensed mental health counselor can responsibly pull off. A Florida-based comic, improviser, writer, and mom, Aimee blends sharp psychological insight with relatable chaos—bringing high-energy sets that feel equal parts therapy session and girls’ night out. She’s a regular on Real Laughs and Tom & Dan on Real Radio 104.1 and co-hosts the Pillow Fort Podcast with Roo and Aimee. Aimee produces and hosts Psych! A Stand-Up Therapy Comedy Show, which has sold out at the The Den Theatre in Chicago, Breakthrough Theater in Winter Park, Florida and the Orlando Fringe FestN4. Aimee is also the co-founder of the Florida Comedy Collective, find more info at floridacomedycollective.com.
