About this event

Join Newbery Medal-winning author Tae Keller for a special author visit featuring When Tomorrow Burns, selected to represent Washington state for the Great Reads from Great Places program of the Library of Congress’ 2026 National Book Festival (NBF) and “Festival Near You” project. This free event will be held in person at Bellevue Library and online via Zoom. The event will be recorded and accessible on Washington State Library's YouTube channel. Books will be available for purchase from Brick & Mortar Books to be signed by the author. Registration is not required to attend in person. Please register through Zoom to attend online. When Tomorrow Burns is a woven story of fate and friendship, where three middle school students search for a book that may save their lives. A "complex, carefully woven exploration of fate, autonomy, power, privilege, identity, and friendship. As beautiful and intricate as the rings of an ancient tree." -Kirkus Tae Keller is the Newbery Medal-winning author of When You Trap a Tiger and The Science of Breakable Things, and the Washington State Book Award winning author of Jennifer Chan Is Not Alone. She lives in Seattle. This author visit is part of the NBF’s “Festival Near You” project presented by the Washington Center for the Book (an affiliate of The Library of Congress Center for the Book administered by Washington State Library) in partnership with the Bellevue Library branch of the King County Library System. This program was made possible in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
