MCS In-person Application Event
MOFGA Certification Services will be holding an in person application event where applicants who are ready to apply can come to our office to meet staff and leave having submitted their application and paid their annual fee. We will have computers available for use, but suggest you bring your own laptop if you have one. If you’ll need to borrow one of ours please RSVP (certification@mofga.org or 207-568-6030) for the event so we can make sure we have enough computers. If you are not comfortable with computers or don’t have an email address we will have paper application forms you can fill out. Please review and prepare the following items: Fees- please review the fee sheet and come prepared to pay via a credit card or check (cash will not be accepted) Please bring a list of materials you have used on your land for the past 3 years and a list of materials you plan on using this season. This includes: soil mixes, fertilizers, pesticides, adjuvants, inoculants, growth regulators, mulch, compost/manure, biologicals, seed treatments, and all cleaners and sanitizers used on food contact surfaces. For livestock please include all feed supplements and medications. We will need to know: The full product name, the manufacturer, EPA # if applicable, and the purpose of the material If you are applying for processed products (anything dried, mixed, repackaged) please bring electronic copies of all of your labels Please review the application forms for the scope you are interested in certifying so you have an idea of what information you’ll need to provide Crops Livestock Processing Low Bush Blueberries Hemp (+ crops forms) Please review our application checklist Please review the practice manual which contains the rules and regulations for all USDA certified organic producers. Bring questions, but you should have an idea of what the regulations are to be certain certification at this time is right for you Please review our production-specific recordkeeping templates.
