About this event

Knowledge as (Political) Power: How What We “Know” Is Influenced by Politics. FREE Community Lecture Presented by Dr. Rei Gordon, Professor of Political Science at Muskegon Community College We are familiar with the phrase “knowledge is power” – but knowledge is also political. Join Dr. Gordon for a discussion of how what we “know” is constructed and influenced by our political world. With the increasing use of AI, an examination of what we think of as “objective information” is especially timely and important. Dr. Gordon holds a PhD in political science from Western Michigan University; their research critiques the concept of objectivity in public opinion surveys in sub-Saharan Africa. Doors Open: 5:30 PM Come early to grab a great seat, order a drink, and enjoy some food before the presentation begins. Lecture Begins: 6:30 PM We encourage guests to arrive early, settle in, and enjoy the evening before this thought-provoking discussion with Dr. Rei Gordon
