Makers on the Mountain presents: Surprise Artist Pop-Up at Burritt on the Mountain This Saturday, August 22 • 11:00–3:00 • Historic Park Burritt on the Mountain is excited to welcome two remarkable visiting artists for a special one‑day pop‑up experience in the Historic Park. Join us this Saturday to meet the makers, explore their work, and learn about the unique processes behind their craft. Free with paid admission! Featuring: Nathaniel Trost – Potter Nathaniel is a porcelain potter whose quiet, simple aesthetic is shaped by his experiences across three influential places: the American South, London in the UK, and Jingdezhen, China. His functional thrown porcelain pieces reflect techniques learned at Maze Hill Pottery, where he practiced soda firing and British studio ceramic traditions, as well as his time making Chinese teaware in Jingdezhen. Now working from his one‑person studio in Atlanta, Nathaniel creates elegant pottery designed to enrich everyday rituals of eating and drinking. He will be demonstrating the kick-wheel in the Historic Park and will have a selection of pieces available for purchase. Ivy Borden – Weaver Working with a backstrap loom—a tool powered by the tension between her body and another being, often a tree or person—Ivy’s weaving practice encourages viewers to reconnect with place and kinship. Living in Co. Clare on Ireland’s west coast, she relocated from Alabama to pursue an MFA in Art and Ecology at the Burren College of Art. Her work invites active perception of the interwoven relationships among creatures, plants, objects, and landscapes, highlighting our shared responsibility to care for what surrounds us. Ivy will be demonstrating a variety of fiber tools including the floor loom in the Chandler Cabin. Come experience their artistry, learn about their creative journeys, and enjoy a beautiful afternoon in the Historic Park. This unique pop‑up is available for one day only—you won’t want to miss it!
