About this event
How many of us have ever prayed, ‘Lord make me an instrument of your peace,’ then found ourselves in complex and polarized situations that made peace seemingly impossible? No matter how far apart two sides are, there are effective strategies to bring people together. This course shows us how. Designed by the Office of Government Relations of The Episcopal Church, Make Me an Instrument is a 5-week course designed to help us bridge the divides that keep us from moving forward. Taught by a team of experts in civil discourse and facilitated by the Canon Pastor, Rev. Mary Carter Greene, and the Director of Formation, Rev. Mees Tielens, this course includes these five classes: Civil Discourse in Context * Tenets for Civil Discourse * Values-Based Conversations * The Complexities of Policy * Sacred Space for Debate Make Me an Instrument is ideal for those who want to take dialog between polarized people or parties seriously and prepare faithfully for the 2026 midterm elections. Classes meet in person on five Sundays at 1 pm: 9/20, 9/27, 10/4, 10/11, and 10/25.
