Máire Ní Chathasaigh & Chris Newman | Concerts in West K with Mousam River Music

The Museum’s Concert Partner Mousam River Music Presents: On May 3 we welcome the internationally renowned duo of harpist Máire Ní Chathasaigh and guitarist Chris Newman from Ireland, back to Kennebunk for their second appearance in the “Concerts in West K!” series. During their first visit in 2024 they mesmerized the audience at the West Kennebunk church with their artistry and virtuosity. Both Máire and Chris are recognized as virtuosos on their respective instruments; they are among the most highly regarded Irish traditional musicians playing today. Máire has been called “the doyenne of Irish harpers” and “the great innovator of modern Irish harping, a player of outstanding technique and imagination.” BBC Radio 2 termed Chris “one of the UK’s greatest guitarists.” As a duo they have toured in 23 countries and appeared in venues ranging from the tiniest of village halls – in places like Kennebunk!—to palaces and concert halls in Kyoto, Istanbul, London, Sydney, and Cologne. Expect a breathtaking blend of traditional Irish music, hot jazz, bluegrass and baroque, spiced with striking new compositions and Chris’s “delightfully subversive wit”! The Brick Store Museum is located at 117 Main Street, Kennebunk, adjacent to the Kennebunk Town Hall. The “Concerts in West K!” series is produced by Mousam River Music in association with the Museum. +++ Tickets: $25 per person Pre-purchase online by Saturday, May 2! After that time, tickets will be available for purchase at the door. Questions or want to reserve unpaid seats? Email: paul.wells@mousamrivermusic.net
