About this event

In this 2-session class, you will learn the fundamentals of CNC machining on our Tormach 770 mill, starting from the ground up — no prior CAM software or G-code experience required. In the first session, you'll learn to read and write G-code by hand. In the second, you'll bring that code to the machine and cut your own part in aluminum. Our instructor will guide you through the process step by step, tool by tool. Students with laptops already setup and working are encouraged to bring them. Otherwise one will be provided. **Topics Covered** * G-code fundamentals: reading and writing toolpaths * Feeds and speeds * Cut depths and tool paths * Tormach 770 machine setup and safety * Running your program and cutting your first part **Additional Information** This class is limited to 6 students due to single-machine availability for hands-on time. Attendees must be at least 16 years and up. This is a two-session class — please be aware that the second session will be scheduled directly with the instructor. After the successful completion of both sessions, attendees will be given a certificate allowing them use of the Tormach CNC with a paid Make Salt Lake membership. **How to Find Us** Please arrive on time, we will meet in the Make Salt Lake lobby then walk students to the workshop. Attendees who arrive more than 10 minutes late may not be able to join the class.
