Lux String Quartet – distorted beauty
Distorted Beauty dives into the works of a Russian, an American, and an Australian. Schnittke was Shostakovich’s heir apparent but delved into every style imaginable, from Renaissance mass to touches of modern pop. Cowell, although the godfather of all American experimental music and John Cage’s teacher, is largely ignored in the concert realm. And Vines is an expert storyteller, combining Romantic harmonies with 21st century textures to bring his programmatic works to life. What these composers have in common is their unique ability to tap into our emotions. Their music captures the beauty of the string quartet in truly unexpected ways. We hope you join us as we explore these incredible works of art!
