About this event
Check out a screening of this beautiful new documentary that expands an Emmy-winning short film! As a special opportunity, co-director Andrew Hinton has offered to come out with the film club after the screening, so we can chat with him one-on-one. Description: What happens when suffering meets compassion? As a struggling young boy, Lobsang Phuntsok was sent to a Tibetan Buddhist monastery—a life-changing process that helped him heal and find his purpose. After years as a spiritual teacher in the United States, he felt called to return to his birthplace in the remote Indian Himalayas to create Jhamtse Gatsal (Tibetan for “The Garden of Love and Compassion”), a home for wounded children like himself. This community is inspired by His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama’s lifelong commitment to compassion and today has become a living example of how pain can be transformed into love. You can pre-purchase tickets HERE. 12:45 PM: Meet me inside The Regent Theater. My picture is shown as the organizer: I have a shaved head and glasses. Seating is general admission, so we'll grab seats together at about 12:55 PM. 1:00 PM: Film starts. Run time is 1 hr. 25 min. 2:30 PM: Q&A with the filmmaker Andrew Hinton and one of the main characters, the Monk, via videoconference. 3:00 PM: Head over to a restaurant in Arlington Center for food and drinks with co-director Andrew Hinton, who will be available until around 4:30 PM.
