About this event

**Los Peñasquitos Canyon Preserve** Los Peñasquitos Canyon Preserve has suffered two devastating fires in a remarkably short period of time. Now, the work of recovery begins. Join SDMBA trail crews and volunteers from across the community as we help repair fire-damaged trails and support the reopening and recovery of the canyon. **No trail work experience is required.** We’ll provide the tools, training, and crew leadership. The work will be dusty and physical, but every hour helps get one of San Diego’s most beloved open spaces back on its feet. **Come be part of the recovery. Let’s rebuild Peñasquitos together.** **Meeting and Parking** We’ll meet at the **top of Side Hill Trail**, with street parking in the surrounding neighborhood. Look for the **SDMBA booth** at the trailhead for check-in, your safety briefing, and crew assignments. **Space is limited for each workday.** We’re capping registration to make sure each crew has the right number of volunteers to work safely and effectively, while also minimizing our impact on the surrounding neighborhood. **Please RSVP only if you plan to attend, and update your RSVP if your plans change so someone else can take your spot,** **Before You Arrive** **All volunteers must complete a waiver:** **[VOLUNTEER WAIVER LINK](https://www.memberleap.com/members/evr/reg_main.php?orgcode=SDMB&evid=45686593)** You can also complete it on your phone at check-in. **Planned Work** Work will vary by day and may include: * Installation of temporary guide fencing * Rehabilitation of fire/dozer lines * Erosion control measures * Clearing and repairing damaged trail corridors Our crew leaders will show you what to do and how to do it safely. **What To Bring** * Plenty of water and snacks * Sturdy, closed-toe shoes or boots * Long pants; long sleeves recommended * Work gloves and eye protection * Sunscreen and a hat * Anything else you need for a safe, comfortable day outdoors Expect **dust, sun, uneven terrain, and physical…
