@ Join former Newsday staff writer and local history author Bill Bleyer as he traces the captivating history of the events surrounding the largest engagement of the American Revolution—the 1776 Battle of Long Island, a major defeat for the colonists that could have spelled the end of the Continental Army. Bleyer will also explore the subsequent British occupation and hardships it caused for Long Island residents until the end of the conflict in 1783.
