Meeting Room 1, Meeting Room 2. Since the year 2000, roughly 3,500 newspapers have shuttered or merged, and many or most are mere shadows of their former selves. CT Examiner, an award-winning statewide online newspaper based in Old Lyme, launched in 2019 in an effort to find a sustainable model for high-quality local news. Editor-in-Chief Gregory Stroud will speak about the challenges and successes of reporting in Connecticut and take questions in what we hope will be a lively freewheeling conversation about the business of writing the news. Stroud, who taught at Bennington College and frequently hosted public forums for Connecticut Trust for Historic Preservation, looks forward to engaging with the audience on a variety of topics related to the news and news business.
