About this event
Community Room - 1st Floor. RESCHEDULED FROM 11/18 Award-winning journalist and SU graduate Jeanne Albanese shares the story behind the honest, gritty and ultimately joyful memoir, Woman On the Run: 6,000 Miles That Saved My Life. In her new book, Albanese chronicled Susan Carpenito Heard’s journey of healing, resilience and renewed hope through life's darkest times. This inspirational book is perfect for those seeking purpose, recovering from loss or looking for a spark to begin their own transformative journey. Learn more about Susan’s story as well as the story behind the story—a behind the scenes look at why Jeanne thought Susan’s story would make a great book and how the book came to life. Her talk will include tips for any aspiring writer or family historians. Jeanne Albanese grew up in Staten Island, N.Y., and attended Syracuse University, where she earned degrees in newspaper journalism and English and textual studies in between long nights working at The Daily Orange. She later earned her master’s in magazine journalism while working at the Syracuse Post-Standard. She spent most of her career as a sports writer but also worked in news and features. She won local, state, and national awards as a journalist and her work was once listed under Notable Writing in Best American Sportswriting.
