TICKETS DOORS 7 / MUSIC 8 Living Language is a Brooklyn-based group led by Nikhil P. Yerawadekar (Antibalas, Hailu Mergia, Say She She), bringing the architecture and pan-African dialect of Fela Kuti's Afrobeat music to today's dance floors and listening rooms. The members of Living Language have worked closely with icons such as Tony Allen, Lee "Scratch" Perry, Charles Bradley, and David Byrne, and the free expression within the band's hypnotic music reveals a connection to our common roots, inviting audiences into the spirit of liberation and resistance that is synonymous with Afrobeat. To celebrate Fela Kuti's 88th birthday in the Hudson Valley, the sextet will be doubled in size by aligned musical guests from the area for some special large-ensemble performances from the legend's catalog.
