Athens, Georgia native and New Orleans singer/composer Lilli Lewis dissolves the distance between performer and audience. Rooted in extraordinary musicianship and animated by wit, vulnerability, and deep humanity, her work invites listeners into an experience of connection that lingers long after the final note. Lewis is a classically trained pianist and opera singer who moves among folk, jazz, Americana, gospel, blues, and classical traditions while remaining unmistakably herself. A Righteous Babe Records artist whose work has been featured by NPR Music and Rolling Stone, she has performed at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, with the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, with folk icons Indigo Girls, and in acclaimed listening rooms across North America. Beyond the stage, Lewis has helped shape national conversations about the evolving landscape of American roots music. As a former vice president of an independent label, creator of Committing to Conversation, and founder of the Black American Music Summit for Folk Alliance International, she approaches that work through a philosophy she summarizes in three words: “Practice Radical Decency.” Whether performing songs from more than two decades of songwriting or expanding her body of published writing, Lewis invites audiences into shared acts of curiosity, hope, and belonging.
